Connect meaningfully with your life.
Empowered Connections Counseling is a group practice dedicated to helping you develop meaningful connections with yourself, your significant relationships, and your community. Connections are essential in our lives, and yet we all struggle with them from time to time. You might need support in getting through a particularly difficult time in your life, or you might want to work on barriers to connection, such as communication struggles or conflict. As a client, you can expect that we will take time to get to know you so that we can meet you where you are and work with you to explore whatever is bringing you to therapy.
Find a therapist who is a good fit
You may have heard a term in the therapy world called “goodness of fit”. This refers to having a relationship with your therapist in which it feels safe for you to be your unique, vulnerable, authentic self! As with all human relationships, we don’t always “click” with one another. We may end up feeling misunderstood, or we might be looking for a therapist whose life experiences mirror our own. Although similar backgrounds and experiences can be important, a good fit entails feeling heard and understood by your therapist, and that they can provide you with the support you need. Our aim is to ensure you find a therapist who is a good fit, not just with your schedule, but also in the ways that really matter to you.
What to Expect from Therapy
Therapy can look very different depending on the style of the therapist and the preferred model of treatment; however, here are some things that you may expect from this process:
In the first session (and sometimes subsequent sessions) we will conduct an assessment with you and whoever else is presenting for therapy. We will take time to get to know you, your goals, and the issues you would like to work on.
We will meet with you for 45 minutes for children and adolescent sessions, 50-55 minutes for individual adult sessions, and 55-60 minutes for relationship and family sessions. Sessions usually occur once per week, but the frequency and duration can be changed over time to fit your needs.
We will work with you on your goals for therapy. We understand that coming to therapy is an investment of time, effort, and money, and therefore we want to ensure that you are getting the maximum benefit from it.
We will help you to gain insight into your patterns and behaviors. We will NOT just sit there and nod our heads while you talk. Therapy is an interactive process and involves active effort on both the therapist’s and client’s parts!
Therapy can last for several months, or it can be longer than that. There are a variety of factors that determine the length of time someone participates in therapy, and we work with clients to ensure that they are active participants in this decision.
Payment Options

If in network with your insurance plan, we will submit claims on your behalf and you will be responsible for whatever deductible or copayment that your plan dictates.
