At ECC, we work with clients, relationships, and families of all backgrounds, including ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, and education levels. Licensed in the State of Illinois, we treat clients in Chicago and across the state. We offer in-person and online therapy sessions, with daytime, evening, and weekend availability. Our diverse team of multidisciplinary therapists treat a variety of presenting issues. Below are a few areas of expertise where we can offer support:

Anxiety therapy

ANXIETY THERAPY

Everyone worries at least some of the time, but chronic anxiety can interfere with a person’s day to enjoy life and function day-to-day. If anxiety is keeping you from thriving, ECC therapists can help. Learn more.

Attachment-based therapy

ATTACHMENT-BASED THERAPY

Our early bonds with our primary caregivers set our expectations for how we relate to others, and how they will respond to us. ECC therapists can help you uncover and repair attachment issues so that you can form healthier relationships. Learn more about attachment-based therapy.

Culturally-responsive therapy

CULTURALLY-RESPONSIVE THERAPY

Our cultural backgrounds can have a big impact on our mental health, from immigration issues, to experiences with racism, assimilation, family expectations, and more. Having a therapist who understands your cultural background can make all the difference. ECC's diverse group of therapists offer a culturally-responsive approach to mental health care, including therapy sessions in Spanish and Mandarin.

DEPRESSION THERAPY

Depression can be the result of many different things, from brain chemistry to family medical history, difficult life transitions, and even environmental factors. How each person experiences depression can vary greatly too, from type, to severity, and duration. ECC therapists can provide a unique treatment plan to help you navigate your experience with depression and find relief. Learn more about depression therapy.

EATING DISORDER THERAPY

If your relationship to food – what you eat, when, and how – is a persistent preoccupation that is interfering with your daily life, you may be experiencing an eating disorder or disordered eating. At ECC, we will provide a safe space to not only explore your relationship with food, but your relationship to yourself. Learn more about therapy for eating disorders.

FAMILY THERAPY

Families can have a lot of love, yet lack the emotional skills and tools to express that love in a healthy way. In family therapy, an ECC therapist can guide you and your loved ones as you navigate difficult topics and encourage new ways of thinking, relating, and communicating with one another. GRIEF & LOSS THERAPY

Grief and loss are universal, yet how we experience them can be unique, going beyond death and sadness to completely unexpected experiences. ECC therapists are here to help you process your loss and the range of emotions that come with it, individually, as a couple, or as a family.

THERAPY FOR LIFE TRANSITIONS

From careers and relationships, to the places we call home, life transitions can be stressful, even when we choose them. How we cope with that stress can be put to the test in new and unexpected ways. An ECC therapist can help you navigate the stress and strengthen your ability to cope with change. LGBTQIA+ FRIENDLY THERAPY

Our gender and sexual identities can have a distinct impact on our mental health, in ways both positive and challenging. At ECC, our LGBTQ-friendly therapists will provide a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore and express your authentic self. Learn more about LGBTQIA+ friendly therapy.

NEURODIVERSITY-AFFIRMING THERAPY

In a society that often stigmatizes any behaviors that deviate from what is considered neurotypical, being neurodivergent can be an exhausting experience. At ECC, our therapists work with your brain, rather than against it, helping you to discern your strengths and healthy self-regulation, versus what is maladaptive. We'll collaborate with you to find the therapy approach that suits your unique needs. Learn more about neurodiversity-affirming therapy.

THERAPY FOR CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS

Childhood and adolescence are full of change and it’s common for children to experience emotional upheaval. While the love and support of caregivers can provide a secure base as they navigate the world, sometimes therapy is needed to help kids adapt. With the guidance and support of an ECC therapist, your child or teen can learn new coping skills and ways of communicating so that they can thrive into adulthood. Learn more about therapy for children and adolescents.

THERAPY FOR PARENTS

Parenthood can be an emotional rollercoaster of joy and exhaustion, and in modern western culture, parents are under more pressure than ever to be present with their children with less support. At ECC, our therapists can offer mental health support as you navigate the ups, downs, and unexpected turns of raising tiny humans. Learn more about therapy for parents.

RELATIONSHIP THERAPY

There are all sorts of reasons partners might choose to seek couples therapy or relationship therapy, from lack of intimacy, to recurring conflict, big life transitions, shared trauma like a death in the family, and broken trust. Relationship therapy can help you and your partner(s) through all these things, while giving you the emotional tools to strengthen your bond. At ECC, we support all types of romantic relationships. Learn more about relationship therapy.

THERAPY FOR STRESS MANAGEMENT

While "self-care" has become a buzzword in recent years, most of us are more stressed than ever as we try to balance the demands of work, family dynamics,  global politics, and more. If you're struggling to manage your stress and find healthy ways to cope, an ECC therapist can help. We'll start with a holistic approach to self-care, one that addresses your physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual needs. Learn more about therapy for stress management.

TRAUMA RECOVERY / PTSD THERAPY

Experiencing a life-changing or life-threatening event can trigger the body's most basic survival instincts, known as the fight/flight/freeze/fawn response. In the aftermath, the body can struggle to regain a sense of safety and calm, leading to symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). At ECC, we help patients recovering from all types of trauma to approach traumatic memories from a grounded place and develop healthy skills to manage PTSD symptoms. Learn more about trauma therapy.
