Personal bio: Therapy can be a difficult step for anyone to take in their lives. Individuals may seek therapy in order to address life's biggest challenges, and the impact they have on our everyday lives. However, therapy is much more than that. Therapy is a collaboration between the client and the therapist, in order to gain insight and have the necessary tools to continue to succeed in their life.
I am a pre-licensed professional counselor, and I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. After my master’s program, I gained experience working with adults with Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Anxiety Disorders. I worked closely with clients to create a space that decreases feelings of anxiousness and utilize tools to help them cope with symptoms that may impact their everyday lives. During that time, I began to realize the importance of remaining grounded with the client and forming a strong therapeutic relationship.
I utilize a person-centered approach in session, to be able to learn more about your core strengths and how they can be used as tools to improve your daily functioning. My goal is to create an environment in which you feel comfortable working on yourself. I do this by being as authentic, providing a supportive and safe space where you feel free to be yourself, and safe to discuss your issues without fear of judgment.
In my spare time I enjoy exploring Chicago and discovering new foods. I enjoy using music as a form of healing and have an ever growing record collection. I enjoy reading, exploring genres such as fantasy, literary fiction, and nonfiction.
During our first session, you can expect… We will do a lot of information gathering, including any necessary documents for effective treatment. The initial session will also include an assessment form, which is an opportunity for me as your therapist to get a glimpse of your past by asking questions regarding mental and physical health history, social history, and know the goals you have for yourself in therapy. This assessment can be done in one session, or three. Everyone’s history is different so that may require more or less discussion. I will also inquire about your knowledge and experience of therapy. I look forward to working with you and helping you begin your path of achieving your goals!
